Bergmann acted as counsel to wpd europe GmbH in establishing joint substation arrangements for the Jokela and Tohkoja wind farms
Bergmann Attorneys at Law advised wpd europe GmbH in establishing the arrangements for the construction of a joint electrical substation to be used by the neighboring wind farms Jokela and Tohkoja in the municipality of Kalajoki, Finland.
The arrangements facilitate the emergence of synergies between the adjacent wind farms by using a common substation with a capacity of up to 160 MW, while retaining the independent nature of the involved wind power projects. The project company, Merikallion sähköasema Oy, works under the so-called Mankala principle.
wpd europe GmbH is a leading developer and operator of wind farms. The company is a joint undertaking of privately-held wpd AG, Bremen, Germany, and the municipal utility company of Munich, Stadtwerke München GmbH. In Finland, wpd europe GmbH holds various wind farm projects, two of which (Mäkikangas in the municipality of Pyhäjoki, 33 MW, and Jokela, 36 MW) are in the construction phase.
